West Devon Riding Club

Club History
The West Devon Riding Club was established in 1970. The club is affiliated to the British Horse Society and comes under Area 19.

We are based in the Shaugh Prior area on the southern edge of The Dartmoor National Park. The club is well known for being friendly and is run by a small but enthusiastic committee.

Club Events
Typical competitive events organised by the club are Open shows, Jumping shows, Evening show Jumping, Mini Le Trec and Hunter Trials. Non competitive events include treasure hunts, pleasure rides, barbecue, disco and AGM. We also arrange training sessions for members only in dressage, cross country and show jumping.

Members collect points for attending events and winning prizes. Perpetual trophys and rosettes are awarded each year to those people with the most points.

We like to encourage our members to represent the club in inter-club competitions either as team members or as individuals. Winning these events can give members the opportunity  to compete at national finals held at major shows throughout the country. In recent years we have been represented at Lincoln, Hartpury, Peterborough, Malvern, Trent Park, Stoneleigh, Olympia and Hickstead.
