A.G.M.

The West Devon Riding Club AGM was held on 24th November 2004 at the White Thorn at Shaugh Prior. We would like to thank all those members who attended the meeting and also welcome our new members who joined on the night.

We started the meeting by reading and agreeing the minutes from last year's agm. This was followed by a report from John Orrell, the Chairman. John reported on the events the club had held throughout the year. He thanked the committee for all their hard work and welcomed Nicola Palmer who joined the committee earlier in the year. John also announced the resignation of Helen Orrell who was the Treasurer and asked if any of the members would like to join the committee. Many thanks to Karen Penry and Helen Radmore who volunteered to join us.

John's report was followed by the Treasurer's Report and Team Report.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2004 Points awards. Jill Stewart explained how the points are calculated. They are awarded for each horse and rider combination. This means that some members who ride more than one horse may appear to have less points than one might expect. Results are as follows:

1st         Helen Orrell                 Sundance          Senior Trophy.

2nd        Georgina Radmore      Grace                  Junior Trophy

3rd        Amy Hewitt                   Buster

4th        Pauline Bloomfield        Aragon

5th        Lucy Luscombe            Andy

6th        John Orrell

7th        Jenny Radmore            Ike

8th        Sally Roberts                Buster

9th        Emma Corboy           Trigger

Teams of Three Show Jumping

West Devon Riding Club was represented by a team at the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in July.

There were 62 teams from all over the country competing for the Riding Clubs' Championship. Our team jumped well and everyone agreed that they had enjoyed the event. Special thanks must go to our three travelling grooms and to our driver, Di who took us safely there and back. We finished 11th; the fastest team with 4 faults. This is our best result yet.

The team was:

Jolly Calluna        Sally Roberts    (Amy Hewitt)

Sporting Print       Cynthia Cane    (Chris Cane)

Ike                        Jenny Radmore    (Adele Colton)
